Hats off to our mother countries
Commemorating its "birth" 50 years ago, the GSSA is high-lighting our mother-countries, meeting by meeting. In Capensis we are trying to mirror these occasions. First on the list so far, was the Netherlands: prof Leon Hattingh's talk is summarised on p.4. Sadly we could not obtain a copy of Prof Jeffrey Peires' lecture on Xhoza genealogy when he high-lighted South Africa in May; however Ockert Malan exhibited the matriarchal genealogies of a number of our Khoi "stammoeders" — see p.8.

Dis die raad van Anton Verwey op p.15. Hy het só uitgevind hoe en waar sy stamvader waarskynlik dood is.

Destydse mense met passie en styl
Marlene Goosen ontgin die voorraad inligting en foto's in die De Villierskamer van die Drakensteinse Heemkring en vertel op p.20 van die lief en heelwat leed van ’n prominente Paarlse gesin gedurende die laat 19de eeu.

Die briljante suster van Eerste Minister Malan
Marianna de Jager is ’n kleinkind van hierdie steunpilaar van die sendingveld. Op p.40 illustreer sy hoe Ouma Cinie haar merk ook buite die familie gemaak het.
