Diamantveld Branch

vergaderingThe Diamantveld Branch was founded on 2 March 2012 at Kimberley, Northern Cape. The national president of the GSSA Hendrik Louw with the assistance of the Chairman of North West Branch Simon du Plooy  led the proceedings.oom danie lategan 1

The attendees were enthusiastic and decided that this branch will serve the whole of the Northern Cape, from the diamond rich westcoast at the mouth of the Orange River up to cradle of the diamond industry in Kimberley. This covers a vast area but the committee accepted the challenge and all can look forward to a new era in genealogy in the Northern Cape.

The chairman is Petrus Fourie, the vice chairman is Caren Louw, the secretary Johan Dorey-Venter and the treasurer Sanet Gouws.

The oldest member attending, at 94 years, was oom Danie Lategan. After years of painstaking research he surprised all by presenting his research: Memoirs uit die Kamdebo en ander Omswerwinge. The youngest to enroll as a member was the 14 year old Miss Kritzinger.
